Thank you @herstoryofsuccess for sharing this quote. Two things hit me, my own past behaviors and then how I will now handle other people’s behaviors. In the past when I have lashed out, at the root of it was my struggle with my own worth. Being in business with your family is super hard and my father has ALWAYS been horrible and telling his family members they are doing well, or that he is proud. One time a few years back I remember asking him “Why have you never told me you are proud of me?” His response was “I thought if I did you would slow down.” ⠀
Well I did ;)⠀
And it was not because he finally acknowledged my hard work, it was so I could break down and get to know me, get comfortable with my weirdness, my talent, get comfortable with my mistakes, my power, my light. So I could never ever wait for another person’s approval. See we all got “stuff” in our families and in our hearts and heads. How we approach them is what makes who we are, what determines our healing, what determines how we love. ⠀
This quote also has opened my eyes how I can change my “reaction” to other’s actions. I keeping hearing in my heart “you are worthy of love,” and “You are valued” and “I value you.” And these things I now know about myself deeply and I hear them now when I look at others. ⠀
If you are struggling with your own self worth please know you are perfectly made. Please know you are not alone, and please know there are people (me and others) who will walk and talk with you. ⠀
